Bambu Handy and FabBeacon solve different parts of the same work. Keep the tool you already trust for printer control, and use FabBeacon when a Windows screen makes a group of printers easier to scan.
Use Bambu Handy for printer control
When you need to operate a printer, continue with Bambu Handy or your normal Bambu workflow. This is where you should confirm an action that changes a physical print, such as deciding whether to stop, change or inspect a job.
- Keep the existing account and control workflow in the tool you already use.
- Use the printer or your normal control tool when a status needs physical confirmation.
- Do not treat a dashboard percentage as proof that a print is still progressing.
Use FabBeacon for a Windows overview
FabBeacon is a read-only Windows desktop monitor. It brings printer progress, temperatures and connection status into one view so you can decide what needs a closer look.
- Free covers one locally saved Bambu connection and every printer bound to that account.
- Plus adds validated local connections, the farm matrix, groups, alerts, local history, maintenance tasks and production reports.
- The app needs an awake Windows computer, an internet connection and Bambu cloud access to receive new status.
A practical handoff before you leave the print room
- Scan the fleet in FabBeacon. Look for printing, completed and attention states without opening each printer one by one.
- Check freshness. Open the printer details and read the last update time. Separate a fresh status from an old snapshot or a printer that has not reported yet.
- Take action in the usual tool. If a job needs control or a physical check, open Bambu Handy or go to the machine.
- Record only what the monitor observed. Local history and production reports can have gaps after sleep, an app exit or a lost connection.
What FabBeacon does not replace
FabBeacon does not send printer control commands. The current product is a Windows desktop app; it does not provide a phone dashboard, remote web dashboard, cross-PC printer-record sync or team seats. Those boundaries are deliberate so the overview can stay focused and easy to verify.
Which starting point fits?
If one Windows computer and one Bambu account are enough, start with the Free view. If you need to see multiple local Bambu connections, compare the Plus scope after the basic view proves useful. In both cases, keep Bambu Handy or your normal control tool for actions that change a print.
